Different length Termi sleeves

Right, this may be a little sad or i've got to much time and need to get out more.
I have 3 sets of 50mm termis in the garage 1 carbon and 2 titanium. 2 of them (1 carbon & titanium) are 400mm long and the other 1 is 450mm long. Just wondering if there would be any difference in using a particular lenght for performance or noise reasons.

Being equally sad...

I hav two sets of ti termis 50mm and 54mm and the 50mm are 50 shorter. Having said that, they are much louder and I notice the longer 54mms are 105Db limited.

So maybe the extra length is down to noise restiction. Also the 54mm cans have a 50mm exit pipe

all very interesting

just off to polish my vernier .....

Noise regs
When the ACU changed the limits in the mid 90s cans went from 14" in length to 16" in length to get the extra silencing needed.
The early 748s and 916s have shorter cans than later bikes such as the 996 as later bikes probably had to change due to new noise emmission regulations. Ducati even had to move the reflector on the underside of the rear light to allow for the longer silencers

And when the 996 first came out in 1998 they had much larger diameter silencers than the previous models-which later went back to the same as original-go figure.
