Sidestand

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to put a later 748 or 749 side stand on to a 1997 748. I've modified the plate for the spring so it doesn't flick up so I drop it and I'm about to add a micro switch to the stand and one to the mounting on the clutch lever. I was just wondering if it'd be possible to bolt on a later stand with the switch as it's proving difficult to mount the switch for the stand in a professional manner.

The pivot nut on the existing "flicky up" is very close top the fairng and I'm not sure if the later sidestand will clear it. Presumable the later fairing was modified...was it?

Could someone please mail me at HANCYM@VODAFONE.NET with any thoughts or answers?

Many Thanks!

There is a complete kit available in the DP catalogue. You get a sidestand, wiring and a fairing lower. The lower has a larger apperture for the stand. The 749 stand is completely differant.

Alternatively: why bother?:saint:

Learn to love your flip-up stand: no switches to go wrong and fill with rain!

Seriously, just be extra careful for the first few weeks, and it'll become second nature.

I changed mine "back" to a flip-up stand!

For myself being short in the leg (left and right);)

I hate the flip up. I have the plate and the bolt, and as soon as my paddock stand arrives flip up is history.

Better safe than sorry.
