Boxhill

I'm riding an RC30 back from Germany over the weekend and was thinking about dropping by Boxhill (if I can find it!!)
Is this a regular sunday meet?
If so any 851/888's intend to go?
I still have SP5 so havent jumped ship altogether!!

There are always lots of bikes up at Box Hill, but not any organised DSC gathering - except on the 4th Sunday of the month.
There is a DSC/UKMOC meet at Newlands Corner (about 20mins slow ride from Box) on Sunday - with all going on to the New Forest - see details on the Sammy Miller run thread.

CK:)

That'll do nicely - I'll be on my way back to Plymouth so is in my direction.

Justin where abouts in Germany are you?

weeveetwin 29-Jun-2004 19:36

Hi Justin

I'll be buying an RC30 soon (if I can find a decent 'standard' one!) I'd be interested in your opinion on how they compare with the 888 - especially the SP. Any thoughts..?

Cheers
Steve

I will be just north of Hamburg on friday, and was planning to have leisurely blat back to Devon over the weekend.
I am only in Germany to pick the bike up - are you close by?

I've only ever ridden an RC30 back to back with my old piped and chipped 851 strada. The 851 was sweet as a nut, but the RC30 totally blew it away. That said, given only limited time on my SP5 (had a couple of hand injuries that hampered my riding for a couple of years - nothing to do with jazz mags!!) it seems to be a much more raw and fast machine than the 851 (as expected of course), but probably more difficult to jump on and ride fast than the rc30.
Incidentally, whilst I love standard rc30s (and of course they carry a premium) I am picking up a "Thorsten Durbahn" kitted bike (HRC pipes, Moriwaki motor etc) - which at supposedly 175kg (wet) and 125PS may well have the legs on the SP5.
Also it should sound pretty sensational!
SP5 and piped RC30 - two best sounding bikes ever??? ..... well there's a debate!!!!!

Many thanks

Cheers Justin

I'd expect the RC to be a touch more 'civilised' than the SP - and maybe a little easier to live with. Finding a 'good' one won't be easy though, so I'm prepared to look around a while. That kitted bike sounds a bit of a beast! Have fun with it @ the weekend.
