Muffler mod vs noise vs power

Hi all,
With my track bike nearly completed and wanted to save some arse end weight was thinking of doing the muffler mod which i found on ducati suite, 1 because i've installed a pc111 and getting a custom map done so doing the mod may release some extra ponys but wondering about passed the noise test on track days, i could install db killers but would that mess the fueling up.
So i guess my question is has anyone done the muffler mod, is it a good mod to do, pros and cons.
Cheers
Aide

Hi,
I cored my standard cans and whilst they do sound pretty good, they are way to loud for a trackday, approx 104db!!! I ran my performance chip with no issues too.
Proper open baffle Race cans 'boom' rather than 'bark'!

it depends on your trackday organiser and track. MSV days tend now to be 98dB, whereas some tracks have very limited noise testing - ie Anglesey (nominally 105dB). Focused events do 105dB days, aswell as "noisy days" at Donnington. 104dB on a noisy day is fine, 98dB can even count out some dukes as standard.

It also depends on the type of noise testing they do - static or dynamic.

With a static test you normally all line up and get called one at a time to run your bike at a certain revs and the noise is measured at a certain distance from the exhaust exit.

With a dynamic test, there are usually one or more test points situated around the track where they can measure the noise from the bike as it passes.

Your cans will also degrade over time as the wadding inside breaks down due to the heat and exhaust gasses, so they will get louder.

Ultimately, if you think your bike is one the loud side, try to stick to "noisy" 105dB days, or take a set of dB Killers with you as a backup plan so you don't waste your time and money!

so if i core out the exhausts and put new packing in them and buy some db killers i should be ok on most trackdays.
Cheers all.
