Bit of an oil leak - 748

Touch of advice/help may be needed here.

I have an oil leak which when the bikes been on the side stand for a few hours is enough for a couple of drops to have found their way onto the bottom pipe as it runs under the motor and smoke a little while the bike warms up.

Looks like it may be coming from the bottom of the motor. Any suggestions?
Is this 'normal'?
Is it desperate??!!

LHS crankcase cover or the starter motor gasket are the usual suspects.
If it's the cover, try nipping the bolts up. If that doesn't work then it'll need pulling, cleaning off and new sealant applying. You'll need to drop the oil and water though.
If it's the starter motor gasket, the cover needs to come off, as above to replace the gasket as there are two bolts inside the motor.

Only worry with a leak in this area is that if it's enough to run onto the pipe, when you're moving it could end up on the back tyre.
