996S misfiring Has my 996S for about 4 months now, and went on 3rd ride, it seems to cut out at around 7000 rpm in lower gears and around 9-10000rpm in higher gears. Feels like a rev limiter, any ideas It has Termis. |
I have recently had a similar issue. Have a read of my post and the link contained in it. http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/sh...ad.php?t=85648 |
I had a similar occasional misfire under load and initially thought it was one of the coils was breaking down. However, while I had it in bits recently to change the belts I decided to check the plugs (that I supplied to the garage to fit when I 1st bought it) And guess what....I think thats all the did because I could have flown a Jumbo Jet through the gaps!! So, set gaps to spec, refitted and went out for a ride, feels and pulls like a different bike now!! Its worth a check, as if the plug gap is too big the spark can fail when under load.. |
From the title I thought it had been stolen. |

Exactly my reaction - almost a relief to see it only had a problem! |
Thanks for that, I put missing to arouse attention! I'll check the plug gaps, I don't think it is Dunlopo 1's problem as it starts and runs fine, it's just at higher rpm, and it sounds like a rev limiter or traction control! but isn't either of course. |
Dirty fuel filter. |
Replaced plugs and fuel filter, which was filthy, and now it revs through:) |
