Back Protector I've got a Dainese Textile JAcket with a zipped compartment for a back protector. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Assuming I've decided to go for a back protector should it be one that fits in the compartment or one that straps to me? |
You want: a) one that is approved to CE standards b) one that fits c) one that doesn't move in that order! |
I'm using a Dianese one with shoulder straps and a sort of thick waist belt which holds it in place. It feels safer to me than one that fits in your leathers as my jacket tends to move about a bit, the hole in the jacket isn't really big enough to fit a decent size one in, and the one I'm using goes below the line of the jacket to the base of your spine. It's this 'ere model 'ere: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...5491 289&rd=1 Like all safety gear, once you've used it riding doesn't feel safe without one. Cheers, Ali |
Its got to fit & be CE marked , that looks like the Dianese one i am using has it got the Alu Honeycomb inside it ? I would not got out without it the old one i had got a bit warm in the summer but this one is a lot better !! |
I've got the Dainese Space 2 aswell, top piece of kit, and used all the time. |

Looks similar to mine, just depends how well your jacket fits and which you'd be more comfortable with. Being uncomfortable means you'll probably get more use from it than you'd want...... ali |

The back protector built into my Dainese leathers is really unnoticeable and doesn't move at all. For the Goretex jacket (touring/raining/short trips thing) it doesn't have a protector built in so I wear one with arm straps and a kidney belt. The only problem with this is that it tends to ride up your back unless you have the belt done up really tight, which then becomes uncomfortable. Don't know what the ones that have a strap between your legs are like, but I'm sure they do a pretty similar impression to cheese-wire down there if worn for any length of time :o |
I got a Forcefield one from Crowtree. I've only used it on the Cadwell trackday to be honest but it was all day comfy but then my leathers were made with extra space to fit it in. |
