snetterton gearing

ok then here is a point for discussion, which i am sure will draw some interesting points.we all ride a variety of differing ratios, internal and sprocket gearing ,but in general would you run long gearing and use top speed down revit straight or opt for shorter gearing and benefit from acceleration in the in field, mmmmm discuss!

I gear for the straights, max rpm in top before rolloff. But what do I know. :frog:

I'd say similar to Phil but try to leave a few revs in the bag in case of slip streaming. A lot people gear to have as few a gear changes as posible but it really all depends on how you ride.

tall as you can pull, hitting max revs at end of start/straight finish is what I use, with a few left as Simon says

I would say leave a little bit not for slipstreaming but because you will probably be getting quicker each time you go out.
May not be much of a difference to the guys going flat out from the off. I and most mid pack people will pick up the pace from qualifying to the end of the last race.

Mark.
Hate Snetterton! Always get gearing wrong

bradders 03-Apr-2012 22:45

Actually if I really think about it, I do best when I have a clear gear at most corners. Happens to be similar to the flat in top but sometimes sacrifice a bit and, as mark says, come race time and pace picks a little am hitting the giddy heights of 9500 by the end
