suspension & others Hi all, bought my 996 back in march; wish I'd done it sooner!! I have spent a small fortune tarting the bike up to make it look good, so now I an concentrating on the handling / performance. I am thinking about buying an Ohlins rear shock. What difference will I see ? The Showa shock seems a little stiff, & when I hit a series or bumps, I end up sitting on the tank ! Can anybody give me some advice on front & rear suspension settings. I am 14 st 10 lbs fully kitted up. I am also thinking of going a tooth smaller on the front sprocket. What do u all think ? Thanx guys, Paul [Edited on 8-8-2004 by swansea jack] |
If you mainlyu ride one up then swapping to a Ohlins shock from a single seat version (SPS or R) will give you a spring that is 1kg/mm softer and should improve the rear end feel. if this the way you intend to go I wouldn't do to much to the front until you have the back end sorted. One tooth smaller is a popular mod and works well on Ducatis, jsut need to make sure the ride height is adjusted to the right setting afterwards. Can't advise on actual settings as I'm a bit lighter than you. And welcome to the board |
