Car insurance....HELP I know it's nothing to do with bikes but...I need some help with car insurance. I have held insurance with a fleet policy for the past 10 ish years... The insurance quotes fully comp for myself are in excess of £700... Surely I can get it a bit cheaper? have tried alot of internet companies...brokers etc BUT TO NO AVAIL...(sigh) I take delivery of the car...(megane coupe 1.6) in less than a fortnight... Any thoughts??? |
I guess you have zero no claims then? Fully comp on my car with seven years no claims is over £300 so your quote sounds good. Even better when you think about where you live! |
I was in the same boat for more years than 10. Get in contact with your companies insurers and ask for proof of no claims. You can then forward this on as proof to your new insrance company. I'm personally insured with Norwich Union Direct, very good and very cheap. Stevo |
Try Liverpool Victoria,i've been with them for 3 years, they are normally very good,i've insured various high performance cars,M3,cosworth sierra & my present car Mitsubishi Evo6 & they've aiways been £300-£400 cheaper than anyone else!! |
Seconded on the Liverpool Victoria front. If you can get proof from your company about your no claims history, I think they'll take it into account. |
Tesco's try tesco.com for an online quote. If Renault have some sort of insurance scheme try that as well. Just been in pretty much the same boat, years of accident free driving on someone else's policy and before that my own car policy then tried to get insured for a turbo nutter special. Got round it by getting the "handbrake" to insure the TNS after regd in her name and I insure the less expensive set of wheels. Ray. |
Lisa, My wife was in the same predicament as you.She had driven company cars for over 10 years on the fleet policy and never needed personal car insurance. When she opted out of the company car scheme she was quoted over 1200 quid to insure her MGF.She got a letter from her transport department basically saying she had'nt claimed for x amount of years, yadda, yadda, yadda and got the quote down to under 600. Love the signature btw!:P |
Thanx EVERYONE.... Tried all you said and more! TESCO...wass that all abaht???...Tried them and the quote they gave me was around £150-£175 cheaper than anyone I had tried up to that point!!! In the end I used a little known company called "woodstock" insurance. £600 quid...Fully comp with only £100 quid excess and £50 quid excess on windscreen cover. Courtesy car if needed and Legal cover. I'm well chuffed...:) That'll just teach me to go for a Coupe instead of a Seat Ibiza!;):P Oh! and Keefy...Glad ithe signature made you chuckle!;) |
Tesco's insurance is just using the brand name, pretty much like sainsbury's, asda etc for financial services stuff. Virgin for phones etc, etc. I have just found ways of reducing the Tesco quote I got for the handbrake even more, decline the breakdown cover (already got loads of this with other stuff), Legal cover, I can argue the toss for England already so why pay someone else to do it for me!! no courtesy car and don't pay to protect the no claims, (this last bit would knock over 100 squid off the quote, the no claims isn't mine to lose so this bit got kiboshed) Enjoy the new set of wheels, what the colour, Yellow???
