Removable Baffles??
 

Hi Peeps,

First post from a Newbie.

This seems like a nice, friendly, informative board - so I wondered if anyone could provide a source for the following:

Removable baffles to fit 50MM Termi open cans (fitted to 998bp). The idea is to tone dowm the thunder a little to reduce the number of tugs from the fun SS.

All suggestions welcomed.

There's been a few postings on the board recently about these baffles. Company called Tecmoto somewhere near Ilford or romford do them. Can't give you the number at the moment but someone else will pop up with the details.

There is a search facility on the board and if you put removable baffles in, you'll get the old posts. Don't worry as a newbie it took me a while to find such things out.

Talked to my dealer about putting in link pipe with baffles. Takes about 3-5db's. He reckoned that were about £90.

I did talk with TecMoto about these a while back - apparently they had a Guy knocking them up for them in his shed - but they are no longer available.

I originally spoke with them bak in February, so they may have found an alternate source.

I'll give them a buzz and report back.

Where in the country are you , i'm in surrey. Bought some tecmoto ones. I was very disapointed with the baffles they supplied. Took som to the Nurburgring just in case i got noise tested. YES i did get tested and the baffles were useless, they still registered just over 100db. Ended up taking then m out and winding loads of steel wool around then carefully squeezing them back into place to get the bike down below 100db. (996 bp). Not sure what other peoples experiances are but i was a bit miffed. If yo are near to me you could have a listen and make your own mind up.

I'm actually in Jersey, Channel Islands. We have a bit of an issue here in that we don't actually get noise tested, but if the cans (or indicators or other accessories) are not OE or don't carry a BS or E mark, we get prosecuted. No opportunity to rectify or warning - court and fine.

I've been had once, but can't bear to ride a Duc that sounds like a hoover. Sad I guess, but there you go.

My intention is to bring the apparent noise level down a notch or two, so I attract a little less attention. I shall also look into "homologating" my cans with some high quality engraving.

As suggested by KeefyB, I'll try AA16, and I note the suggestion of additional steel (or glass?) wool.

You could always try some quality replacements for your OEM markings that got polished off...

Hi Antonye,

Thanks for the heads-up on the BSAU plates. The local Drivers & Vehicle Standards Department is wise to those, and gets in a serious strop.

I figure that I can sound sincere when I say that engraved/etched approval numbers were on the cans when I bought them, whilst a rivetted on plate has been tried and failed several times over here.
