Why can’t hospital ceilings be more interesting?

Well, it had to happen sooner or later; I’ve just taken my first spill. Pretty standard stuff from what I understand; ‘sorry, didn’t see you!’
I got side swiped by a car turning right from a minor road, knocked me off and out, may have written off the bike and put me in hospital for a very boring evening.
And as I was lying on a stretcher, all trussed up like some sort of gimp, counting the ceiling tiles, and going through it all in slow motion, I realised that there was nothing I could have done to prevent it (other than not ride that day).
So it’s just one of those things that bikers should expect.

One lesson to be learnt by all from this; Always wear your kit. I’ve limped away from this with no more than severe bruising and a little road rash because my leathers took it all, whereas the day before I’d done exactly the same trip but without the full kit.
I'll keep you posted on the insurance side later….

One other thing I will say is that the emergency services and people who stopped were brilliant. The police even took my bike home for me, rather than leave it at the side of the road.

Springer..tough break.
Get well soon.
Get back on bike.
Sue the 4rse off of 'em. It's the only way they'll learn.

Bout time the board had a "what to do in event of accident" listing? There seems to have been a few mishaps recently.

Springer, really sorry mate. Glad you're basically OK. I hope (fingers crossed) that you are able to count on witnesses etc and that you are able to sue the shirt off of whoever it was is responsible (sounds like it wasn't your fault!).

Best wishes!

And here's a tip, folks - always wear your kit!

Bad luck dude - it's happened to most of us at some point.

Hope everything works out for you and quickly - my compensation claim took nearly 3 years to come through.

Unlucky mate

Hope your soon up and about ready to do battle again, the bikes easily fixed. Ahh, yes! Hospital ceiling tiles! At least I had an aircon grille with 630 little squares in it slightly off square in aluminium with a number 12 countersunk slot headed screw in each corner holding it to the poorly plastered ceiling still sporting the 27 little holes left from the previous christmases party balloons to keep me occupied in between those welcome visits from friends and family ;)

Sorry to hear about your accident, Springer. Your observation skills obviously not lacking in any sense - that you were still able to notice how incredibly dull your surroundings in hospital are even after a nasty 'off'. Ergo, it can't possibly have been your fault and you need to make sure the driver's insurance company coughs up. Keep smiling. Glad your injuries significantly reduced by wearing of sensible biker clothes. :(:(:(
