ADVICE ( sprocket Cover )

Just taken the standard sprocket cover off my 996 bip to fit new machined one. The old one is steped out to miss the sprocket but the new is flat and will need to be spaced out is that right ? I can soon make some ? anyone fitted one ?

seems a bit odd to have to space it out should be a straight swap for the original shouldn't it ????

Ive got an old style Tecmoto sprocket cover on my 999.Its just a flat machined plate and came with some spacers about 5mm thick.
