Speedos are expensive, especially on bikes, as they're one of the first pieces to go in a head-on smash. They're also used by unscrupulous types to alter the mileage, so they always command a high price.
So 80 quid is very cheap, especially to include the temp guage!
You won't wreck it as long as you're careful. The numbers are just cogs that are made of plastic, so don't force anything too much (like using a screwdriver as a lever!) and you won't damage anything. Just take it easy and it will be fine.
