I've gone for twin disks up front as I managed to get a pair of forks, twin disks, twin calipers (40mm from a 916) and a 916 master cyclinder all for under £200 - that's without selling the original disk, caliper, m/cylinder and forks!

I definitely think that the next step up in braking power is to go from a single to a twin disk, and then from that point to start worrying about radial m/cylinders, different calipers and the later, lighter brake disks.
