1. No, it's just like an extended pipe so it doesn't matter

2. "Unions" I think, but you'd need to check with ones because of the carb heater connections. Maybe try the parts reference list (your local dealer will have one) to get original Ducati parts from a 900 that had both carb heaters and an oil cooler?

3. No. As you say, it will already have the diverter plate (or it *should!*) because of the carb heater kit. If you take the oil filter off, you should see it anyway - mine was an S-shaped piece of metal with a black rubbery bit on one side to block a hole.
