Is it worth contacting your house policy to see if they would cover it. Putting pressure on your man may not bring any results unless you sit in one of his taxis with a Stanley knife and have another little accident with that and a leather seat, on doggy ground hear making suggestions I think. Reason may not be the key. We are all vunerable to the friendly family visits and the " can I sit on it" brigade, fine if you are standing next to it ,fatal if your'e not as you have found out. Although this is a fair few bob, its not life threatening or going to bankrupt you, and family are family what ever cards you are dealt.
