999s Fork oil change Hi All , Bike is 2004 S model so ohlins forks . What is the procedure for replacing the oil ? and what weight and make is recommended ? Thanks in advance . |
Could find much I'm afraid but I believe a multi-pin tool is needed to remove the top cap, then some info is here: http://www.ducati.ms/forums/56-super...999s-fork.html Or you could pull them out and send both to a shop for a refresh / rebuild to your spec. |
It will no doubt be a Ohlins specific oil that is required/recommend. Need to ensure you discharge the oil from the dampers and make sure they are primed/refilled when setting the air gap |
S model isnt Ohlins. Only the R has Ohlins factory fitted. |

I did mine (Hyper forks) earlier this year and it was actually quite easy! Hardest bit was compressing them down to put them back together again, covered in oil and everything is slippery!!! I ordered oil from ebay (the owners manual had it in I think, but it may have been the workshop manual...) and had to buy a specific fork top tool from the states but it was about a tenner posted. |
Arghh, rtfq for me. I thought you guys were on about 749s not 999s. My turn to bake some pie and eat it! Doh! |
   The f**kwits club mate, I've been a member for years. As the saying goes Simon, if I had a quid for every mistake made etc........ |
you'd be slighter richer?!! |
Pretty sure Craigs (Gbyte) 749S Fila originally had Ohlins forks in it |
