M900 rear shock
 

Got a badly behaving rear. It bounces and jumps a lot even though the rides not firm. NBs thinks it may need refilling with gas but where can this be done ? Its the sachs type. its only done 8000 miles and is in vgc. Has anyone got a good one for sale maybe. Thanks anyway.:(

To expand a little.... albie's shock has preload and rebound adjustment. The rebound seems to be doing nothing silly and responds to adjustment, but the compression is very soft with no means of adjustment.

I'm assuming the compression is controlled by the gas pressure... is that right? And does anyone know what pressure it ought to be at??

They are all like that I'm afraid!My wife swapped her '97 M750 for an '02 M900ie and the handling is just the same!
At 8k miles I doubt the shock is worn out.The rear end is fine for "normal" riding on A roads,but can get a bit vague when chasing 996's down bumpy back roads.
For the best results,we wound up the preload and then gave it a lot more of the rebound damping.About one full turn from fully in,if my memory is correct.The shocks are really basic and you cannot expect the same performance as the units fitted to the superbike range.
If you do really need a new unit,Hagons do some excellent shocks for not a lot of money.

As AK pointed out on another thread,it depends what frame you have.
If its the early 888 type with the rear hoop style ride height adjuster,the it probably wont fit.
If its the later ST frame with the rod ride height adjuster then it just might.

As I said before,Hagon Shocks are excellent value for money.
