Chip Removel

Is this really a slot out slot in job? Is ther anything I should be aware of? Will the bike start afterwards?

marksduc748 10-Aug-2005 11:52

what on?? dont think you can on the 749 or 999 but I have been known to be wrong. easy on the 748 916 etc just be carefull not to bend the pins when pushing the chip in.

When you change the cpu on 749/999 you have to remove all the battery box and components -all the wiring is very tight so its a bit of a fiddle -also when cpu is unplugged the throttle position sensor has to be reset and thats a dealer only job with diagnostic kit

Quote from workshop manual " When changing the throttle body, and or the throttle position sensor,or the engine control unit,or the section of wiring connecting these parts,it is necessary to carry out a new TPS reset procedure"

ah well , my old 999S , the wifes 749S and my current 749R must not have read the workshop manual then , all 3 have had the CPU off and swapped for a race CPU and swapped back again with no problems ;)

ttstu 13-Aug-2005 12:13

Well fingers crossed then.
