\"Cons\" Has anyone worked out what the CONS reading is meant to tell me? Bottom RH corner of LCD display. I read the manual, and they don't say anything beyond "Consumption Indicator)... I tried looking at it as I'm going along, and I think it's trying to say "You've got 20 miles left in the tank", but it seems so variable as to be totally useless... I'm certainly not going to trust it, but I'd be interested to know all the same Ned |
it is your fuel consumption at the time.. but if it is anything like mine it will start indicating all sorts... |
It's the instantanous fuel consumption and automatically comes on when the low fuel light comes on. It varies ebcause it is workingout what the fuel consumption is at any time. Similar in a way to the guage on the speedo on a BMW car. |
ita about as useful as a chocolate teapot. |
It works in conjunction with the fuel light instead of a reserve tap on your tank , once the low fuel light comes on the Battery / Air temp / Cons display will only show Cons , or mileage left in the tank at your current speed / throttle position. You will notice that the figure changes as you go slower or faster indicating the different tank range left at your current speed. Best bet is fill up every 100 miles (the fuel light came on at around 90 miles on my 999S) , or buy a 749R and get a proper size tank :sing: |
Thanks YFE. That makes sense to me. Ned |
Fuel Tank Speaking of decent range and fuel tanks, does Ducati do a larger size tank for the 999S in standard trim rather than carbon fibre? There's no mention of such in my DP catalogue. Not that I have anything against carbon, of course! |
I'm sure you could buy a 749R tank and fit that to a 999S , I dread to think what the price would be though :o , probably cheaper than carbon though ;) |
So when the fuel light comes on, does Cons show current consumption or estimated miles left in tank? |

Tank range , as stated above , it's not rocket science  |
