disc carriers.

I have had a PFM superbike brake kit sitting in my garage for quite a while, decided to fit the kit to my 996R, trouble is the off set on the disc carriers are wrong. Where can i obtain new carriers and roughly what price? How do you measure the off set?

you should check out a P F M site and see whitch Ones you have
009 for the 916 or 003 that the one for your bike they don't seam to have any spasers in the kits

no spacers eric, i think i just need to swap carriers. I know some of the guys on this site run a PFM set up, wonder what their thoughts are. I had this set up on my 748R, no problems, but the ohlins are different on the 996R

now someone may correct me if I am wrong. but I believe that the r series bikes have different carriers than the general spec bikes. i.e those with Ohlins front forks as standard.
if you look at the inside of the fork leg where the calliper mounts up you will see it has been machined away.
I had some 5mm shims made up by Yeti to put the calliper back to where it should be. and that's all you should need

Only the 748 and 998R have the deeper dished discs and the the Ohlins with 5mm machining at the back of caliper mount.
The 996R uses Ohlins without machined backs and therefore uses discs of standard dish.

so are we talking about the mounting holes then :puzzled:

ericthered40 30-Jan-2005 19:31

No offset spacings:roll:

For a 996R if buying a brake kit the one to go for would be standard 996/748 fitment type
