Fuel Tank Problem Trying to strip the tank ready for painting, problem removing the filler centre.Removed lock ring, removed the 8 grub screws but the centre wont lift out.Is there anything else holding it in? |
Nope |
Mine was also really tight. I ended up using a slide hammer (very gently). Keith |
The same - tight - I think I ended up putting the centre back in and utilising some of the bolts. |
They can be a complete pain in the arse. Put a rag partially through the filler hole (to protect your fingers). Insert two fingers and keep pulling up, working your way around the hole keeping pressure on with your fingers. Eventually it will come out and nearly smack you in the mouth. Basically its a matter of overcoming a rubber o ring in a groove Good luck [Edited on 3-12-2005 by andya] |
Thanks for the help,it was tight, thinking Id missed a fastener tight. But its out now!.Not always the tighter the better:) |
Some sort of grease (that doesn't eat the O ring) when you put it back is a good plan. Mine just pops in & out now. |
