Tank protector After getting a nasty scratch on my tank I am replacing my stick on plastic "Carbon" tank protector with a hard carbon fibre one shaped to the tank which will cover a bigger area. What is the best way to stick it to the tank? |
Silicon sealant worked best for me. Spend some time making it fit first; use a hair dryer to heat the carbon so you soften it slightly and bend it to fit snug all round. |
I agree, apply some heat to the tank guard with a hair dyrer and use silicone sealant. Once bonded it will not budge! Best of luck. |
Thanks guys. I've no other use for a hair dryer these days so might as well make use of it for this. |
Searchs under the stairs......I know I've got a tube of silicone somewhere. Good news I've found it, only a quater used. Bad news I've left the lid off. I've now got one solid block of silicon. Drat! Off to the shops. |
Ha! Exactly the same thing happened to mine when I went to use it the other day. The lid was on but I think it was a few years old so it had all set. Mind you, I didn't realise until I'd nearly broken my fingers trying to pump it through! |
