916 No start

I'm having a problem with my 1998 916 Mono. Has been running great up to last week. Tried to start it today and won't start. Checked a few basics such as fuel, fuses, battery, compression, connectors etc..

Engine does turn over fine. The fuel pump does energize when key is turned on but there is no spark and no fuel injector pulses. I am suspecting a problem with the 1.6M ECU or some type on crank sensor that is not sending a signal to ECU.

Any information on diagnostics would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Enzo

Does it have an alarm?

Hi.

Actually I'm not sure if it has an alarm. I don't see one. Did they come with some type of anti-theft system from the factory or are you talking about an aftermarket unit.

Aftermarket. So, do you disarm an alarm with a fob before you ride it?:)

No do not have an aftermarket alarm. There is no alarm. Would like to check the gap on the crank sensor. Is this an easy procedure?

Well I found the problem with the no start condition. Would you believe a faulty neutral safety switch. The neutral light on dash was working properly. Engine would crank over fine and fuel pump energized when key was turned on but then no spark and no fuel injector pulse when cranking. Go figure?

Starts great now.
