Well, it does seem somewhat tight next to the rectifier, and the oil cooler. Ive drilled and mounted it square and precise to the frame. It just seemed to be a very tight fit.
It takes some lining up, but once on doesn't move about at all. Pretty strong too, mine only has a few holes from sliding it, should be easy enough to repair.
To expand on WJB's request, it would be great to pool the knowledge and experience of everyone whose bought trackday bodywork and find the best quality and lowest cost (most likely not the same outfit) for this stuff. A lot of people seem to use it and the general consensous seems to be that none of them fit very well. Maybe we could start a supplier list and rate them based on user experience.
Hi, I am new to this board , but I thought this may be of interest. Picked up these item on ebay last month, cost £350.00 for the lot and in allmost A1 condition, for a track day I was doing on a 916BP. Not sure who makes them, but they fit perfectly, even seat unit lines exactly. I will try and find out who makes them, and update this item. cheers all. Red SPS
I bought Vimori, around £60 per side panel, and you really need their full sump guard, in carbon another £120 ish. The fit was time consuming and tight, but general concensious is a good fit! I had to cut out the vents on the top to ease it running a bit hotter, well it was hot yesterday. As a bit of bull i am adding a fancy bit of carbon to mimic the 998r panels. All will be revealed.
