cylinder studs

Looks like I've got a stretched stud on my rear cylinder. Keeps coming loose and rising. Doesn't feel like a stripped thread. It's the one nearest the exhaust port and the head's been off a few times so I think it's just given up. The heads are also powder coated so could well be running hotter than normal, whatever that is. Can anyone recommend after market stronger studs? I hear APE are good but where the helldya get them in the UK?

The studs available from Ducati are an uprated item over the originals. They were a problem. Front RHS near the inlet was prone to snapping???
Be careful taking them out. I they do snap they are a nightmare to get out. The last one I did ended up being milled out, and ya can't do that with the motor in the bike

Thanks twpd/Nelly. Can I get away with replacing just the duff one or is it wise to replace all 4? I've read some nightmare stories of stud breakage, so obviously don't want to replace the good ones if I don't need to. I'm going to have to drop the engine anyway as it's on the rear cyl. The service history shows that one of the front studs did snap in 96. It was replaced by the late Graeme Ritchie.

The studs from Ducati aren't that expensive. If you're going to the trouble of dropping the motor, i'd do all the lot whilst your at it. You'd be pretty pi55ed if you have to do it all again further down the line, especially on the rear pot..........
Soak them in WD40 and warm the engine with a hot air gun or such like. Work the studs back and forth to, rather than go for unscrewing it straight out. Be careful

And use a proper stud extractor whilst you're at it.
