Speedo
My speedo has stopped working, not during a ride but whilst it was in the garage. The last time but one it was OK last time nothing, not 1 mph ! everything else seemed OK.
Most likely the cable has bust, easy to check, just unscrew the cable at either end and twist one end. If the other end turns it's OK, well that's if both ends are crimped from the round into a squarish section, but my bet is that the cable will be broken about an inch or so from the speedo drive end and all you'll see is some twisted wires sticking out of the speedo drive.

I have disconnected the speedo cable under the clock and pulled the inner out, it appears OK. I then put some duck/duct tape on the top and went for a ride and it didnt move although the cable inner had registered in the bottom. So it all points to something in the front wheel.
How do you support an ST when its front wheel has been removed.
Is this something that should be covered by the warranty ?

i get some one to sit on the back of mine while i remove the wheel then put a metal bar through the forks and lower on to car axle stands

What a bodger....you should always use the right tools for the job.
Last time I took my front wheel out I put the bike on the centre stand then put a couple of sacks of building sand on the pillion to weigh it down....like it says in the Haynes manual

I bought a pair of axle stands Halfords and the bikes sat on them right now, unfortunately they only come in yellow !
The problem is a faulty speedo drive thingy and the bikes just out of warranty bloody typical, on the up side the replacement is only £27 and i have ordered a new one from Snells this afternoon.

YMFB What do you mean "unfortunately they only come in yellow !"
I shall write a letter to the Chairperson of Halfords and congratulate them on their great choice of colour - and - to insist that they open a branch in Switzerland immediately so that I can buy a pair.
Yellow ST4s Ducati's are simply so much more creatively focused - and go faster.
