F***ing circlips

Started fitting the big bore kit and have got to the point where I need to fit the circlips but they won't go in and this is with the piston on the bench so how I will go on fitting the last one when it is on the rod god only knows. So does any one have any tips on the best way to fit them. The original ones have a tang on the so you can get hold of them but the new ones are flat. Quickly running out of time for next week

Not studied the big bore kit, but can't you use the original circlips?
Or is the recess different?

I wouldn't use the old circlips.
The ones with the big bore are b*****ds though!! you have to get one end clipped in near or in the cutout and then work the other side in with a scriber or small screwdriver. They are really tight. Make sure you pack the crankcase throats with rags.........you WILL drop one. Persevere, it's the only way.

I have the same problem with some of the circlips on my singles. Nelly's advice about packing the crankscase mouth is vital.

I also find that I keep my other hand over the side of the piston that I am putting the clip in on. That way when it springs out it doesn't go over the other side of the garage!

I speek from bitter expierience!
