Taking Rev Counter to bits!! help!!

After the off at cadwell my tacho got damaged the screens smashed and the unit moves inside the housing! After looking at the price there fetching on ebay, ive took it apart for a look!
You can get new dials off ebay so im guessing you can take it apart without braking it?? ANyone done this, if so can i just get a new housing and front bit from ducati, or does anyone have one lying around??
Cheers

I think you have to cut the barrel to get the front off so you can replace the dial. Hence the reason why used ones are quite expesive!

Wink opening up clocks...

I recently changed the fascias of my instruments due to the need to register the bike in France (KPH rather than MPH required): I can confirm that you'll need to cut (hack-saw) the barrel in two about a cm back from the fascia & then glue together once the repairs are effected. Whilst this is not visible once the clocks are back in place, you'll always know that imperfection is there .... if thats a concern!
