996 model designations, anyone help?

Hi,
I'm aware that the 996bip and 996s kind of merged in 2001. I believe the 2001 996s has the old sps engine and a few bip parts such as marchesini's and plated showa front forks etc. So if I've got a 2001 bike what is its proper designation a biposta or an s ? Would be grateful of any help.

Also can anyone point me toward any information on the 2001 world enduarance ducati team, websites etc.
Thanks

John
