Have seen a 748 monoposto that I am interested in, but really want the pillion seat as well as my wife wont be happy otherwise.
So, is the only difference the seat plastics on the mono an bi ? could I just get a biposto seat plastics and swap them over ( does the mono frame have the connecting points for the pillion pegs ) or is there any major difference in the subframe that would need that swapping over as well ?
Dont want to go and buy the bike then find out its not going to be easy to convert to a 2 seater
Thanks for the info - my wife has ridden on the back of most of my bikes in the past, and has been on a 996 - I think it helps that she is only a size 10 and doesnt weigh much so finds most sports bikes OK.
That and the fact shes a woman - and as we all know, they will put up with extreme pain for the sake of fashion and looking good ( can you imagine any bloke putting up with wearing high heels for more than 10 minutes )
my 2002 748s was a mono but it had the same subframe as the bip so i just swapped the plastics over and got some pegs. Look out for the footrest hanger lugs near where the exhaust meets the seat
I have a 998 Biposto and would be happy to convert to a mono with an alloy subframe.
My biposto seat unit is mint, passenger pegs & brackets all mint, although the steel rear subframe has some scratches where the previous owner fitted a GRP seat unit.
If your solo seat unit is:
a - Red or red/white b - mint
and the subframe is alloy and in great condition, I would be happy to consider a straight swap of all necessary items.
