Ducati 748 cambelt change Hello! I've just changed the cambelts on my 748 and I'm really pleased that I dared to tackle it, and that it went well. It was easier than I expected! Anyway, I'm concerned at how close the toothed sections of the belt run to each other around the tensioning pulley and I hoped someone could advise whether this looks normal. In terms of tensioning I have applied the following: 1. Applied the 45 degree turn on the longest belt run 2. Checked the clearance between the casing and the belt using a 5mm and 6mm allen key. 3. Checked the vertical movement of the belt against a 10mm spanner to see that there is about 5mm rise and 5mm fall under reasonable pressure. The belt tension 'feels' right but the gap between the toothed sections is literally 1-2mm at the worst point. Is this correct? I've attached a couple of photos below. If anyone can comment I'd be extremely grateful! Also, on the vertical cylinder the belt sits quite far back on the tensioning pulley, so much so that's it's quite misaligned with the belt section opposite. Is this normal? I took pictures before and after and notice that this is how it was before. I know a belt will find it's own position but it seems a bit odd! Cheers in advance for any help! |
