CBR1000RR v 748R

looking for some adivce please, i traded my 99 748s in for a new 05 cbr1000rr, ive done 4500 miles on it and i HATE the thing! so i'm thinking about a 748r i've seen, why i ever changed i'll never know lol.

how different is the R to the S? is it more prone to problems? i got my S with 1000 miles on it and sold it with 19000 miles had a few minor problems with the S but nothing to serious, rode it every day rain or shine.

would i be better goin for a 996/998?

thanks in advance,
joe

hmmm

r to the s is quite different in terms of ducati but compared to the rr its a million miles away.

The 748r is a triuy amazing, awesome handling and performing bike but its not necessarily the most user friendly depending on what you want your bike for. If you want a track tool you can't beat it. If you want a stunning road bike that you have to put the effort into its also amazing. Its not necessaily a great bike for someone who wants to do long rides without constant gear changing or who just wants a leisurely ride.

If you want the lazy option with great performance and reliability and less lumpy go for the 998. If you want something closer in feel to the 748r but with a bit more grunt for lazy days go for the 996.

But, the 748r does come with some great extras that you will only start to find on 996 sps/r or 998 s (i may have those wrong tho ) such as Ohlins front and rear, smooth side panels. 4 pot brembo

Compared to the rr they are all gonna be very very diffferent and the 998 probably has the closest in terms of power, reliability, ease of riding but its posssibly not as 'involving' as the 748r

748R =

went from 748s to 748R on contest the R is such a good bike.
A little bit more to service, belts every year, but worth it.
Rev it to 10,000, the noise is great

Depedns on what you are going to use it for.

If you want comparable performance likely a 998 of some description is the way to go. Maybe more money though.

I have a mate with a 2001 Blade. Perhaps not a 100% comparison because of the age difference. However,
With modified chain sprockets configuration (14/38), in terms of acceleration the 2 bikes are actually evenly matched.
On the track The duke really is better in the bends, holds a better line.

Last time, there were some other 748's running and they seem to lack the oomph. it was also a short track of about 2km's.
