Decreasing radius left hand corner at assen

Decreasing radius left hand corner at assen

After some heated debates on here thought id lighten the mood. For people that went to assen what did you think about the decreasing radius left hand corner (turn five I think) just before the back straight?
I loved that corner it was fast in and slowed you down as you went around the corner very different from any thing Iv ever been around.
I tried several different lines into the corner and I found that tuning in early made a big difference for me. It looked like most of you were taking a late wide turn in. How did you find it? And is there an other corner like it on a British track that we go to?

I didn't do Assen I'm afraid but surely any decreasing turn needs to taken with a late turn in and a late apex. Yes / No?

I liked it.

Definately a late turn in or you'd just be heading straight for the right kerb and have to slow too much and still be cranked over when the guy behind is upright and on full throttle.

Didn't like all them right handers before it tho.

I found that some laps were more enjoyable than others.

It all depended who was crawling around on the track or up to there knees in the gravel. Defiantly didn't like the lap I tried the AstroTurf myself though.

Couldn't stand it, or for that matter get that corner any where near "right" at first...then found my own "solution"......brake very late in a semi-straight wide-ish line, to take a slow, late turn in....turning it on a sixpence and then firing it out....nearly rammed Dickie up the a*se during the race in doing so. Result...onto the gas harder and earlier and onto the straight faster. Turned out to be, probably one of my better corners....didn't sh*t me up like some of the other faster ones!

.

tend to leave a gap up the inside though that way.

but the fastest way through it for sure.
