Yes you can. It's a combination of holding the left and right clock buttons whilst you turn the ignition on.
Then you press one of the buttons (left I think) which then scrolls the clock config through the different bikes (749, 749s, 749r, 999, 999s,999r, US EN EUR etcetera)
It's the european display which has the clocks in Kilometers

Forgot to say, don't try and change the bling display to summat the bike isn't. My ex999 had probs and one garage claimed that the clock definition was set to summat different, this alledgedly changed the mapping.

swannymere - not saying that it won't work. It SHOULD work because as I understand it the clocks are generic for the **9 range of bikes.
BUT...if you read the manual and as told to me by the dealer, the settings on the clock relate directly to the ecu mapping config.
So if you decide you want your display to show you have the US 999r for instance, then the ecu will think it is in good ol US of A and it's an R model. Hence you may find a difference in running.
Try it, you may be surprised.
BTW, you should be able to save the pdf file to your local drive so you don't need the link.

I had to change mine after fitting a new Termi assy system inc. ECU.It definetely works because i changed it from EU k/ph to m/ph,i think whomever you spoke to might be confused.I have actually got a workshop manual for it (749Bp 03) and from memory it does say in one section you can't change it,and in another you can!

Sorry Swannymere, had to laugh at that one.
The comment came from one of the longest established Italian Sportsbike dealers in the country (or so they allege).
Yep, I suspected the comment at the time he was saying it, but hey, how was I to know.
I'd say try it and be damned.
