Just Call Me Lucky!

Six of us went from Exeter over Dartmoor across to Bude and then between Bude and Barnstaple we were stopped by the police. Three of us had put the hammer down and went past a police car. He didn't follow so we thought we had a lucky escape. As it turned out he radiod to a colleague on a motorcycle. After about 10 miles of very commited riding we come up behind a queue of Sunday drivers, I look in my mirror and it's full of Police Motorcycle! He pulls us over and gives us a lecture.

To be fair he was absolutely right. Did not patronise and was not sarcastic.

He said he had never before had to ride so hard to catch us. Our speed was totally unjustified etc.

You could tell he was a bit angry.

He had clocked Freddie at 110mph as he was third in line. He said we were facing a 12 month ban.

"I don't know what to do" he said. I've got the option to send you on a rider awareness course. We made some contrite and humble noises and he decided to do this.

Phew!

We consider ourselves very lucky indeed.

At the begining he said we would get 3 points and a £60 fine aswell.

After doing all the paperwork he said we would get our licences back once we go on the course. He then said the licences would be exactly as they are now unaltered.

Anyone know if we'll get the points or not?

Either way I feel very lucky.

Top Bloke.

Well a fourth member of the group at the back had spotted him up a lane as we wizzed by. He slowed down but we hadn't seen him. He reckons it took him about 6 miles to catch us. Would have been longer had we not got held up behind a queue of traffic at a narrow section. He was a bit out of breath when he was ticking us off.

He was a Triumph 995 rider when of duty.

The ticket simply says "exceeding the 60 mph limit".

Suitably vague.

Again bloody lucky. Had it been a car cop I think it would have been a different story. Assuming he could have caught us of course.

Yes the A39 from Bude to Barnstaple to Tiverton and onto the M5. Some nice roads but always full of traffic.

Hello mate, if you go on the riders awareness course you will NOT get the three points , but you can only do this once, after that you will get the points whatever.
my mate got caught in his car and went on an awareness course, but had to pay £80 for the privelage but didnt get any points.

Guess you'd have had nothing to worry about if you'd all been illegal immigrants with no licences, or pikeys with no tax, insurance or MOT's
