No, I've not been that stupid yet so I don't know how much one of those is

Just phone up your local dealer and ask them how much one is. Just make sure you're sitting down first!

As DJ says, keep checking with ebay as you get one on there every so often.

It's just a thought, but is the fact that you can't reach the ground really to do with a few mm pre-load? 9mm difference is less than half an inch.

I'm on tip toes on my ST as well, but that's only because I've got the rear ride height adjustment ridiculously high. I had it set right (lifted about an inch from standard) but crammed a bit more on when I went from a 170 to 180 rear tyre. It made no odds to the speed of steering so I've been meaning to set it back again. In the meantime, I have had a couple of near goes when I've tried to get my foot down in a hurry.

Now I know 996's have rear ride height adjusters as well...just a thought.

PB - how tall are you? I'm only 5ft 8 with 32" legs, the back of my 998 is jacked up nearly as far as it will go, and I can still put both feet flat on the ground, so unless you're even shorter then theres summat definitely wrong with your setup

more a question of how wide...ask yer mate Jewell! I am 5'8 but with one foot on the floor, my other is about 8" off the ground (at least!) hence wobbly if I dont plan ahead for stops.

I have also looked at the ride height adjuster and there is space to lower a bit. Going to have a go this week (hopefully) and see if it makes much difference. Will probably drop the front by one ring as well - then its the same as the 748 was (5 clear rings) If this fails, probably have to reverse the chain adjuster, at least this should take an inch off.

Alternatively, sell it and buy a harley!

Paul,

I'm really gutted to hear about your spill..............as DJTera says it's all about inside leg measurement. I'm 5'10" with a 31" inside leg and was comfortable on my 996 & my current 999.

Hope you get everything sorted m8. Anything I can do let me know.
