so what are peoples views on these little beauty bikes then?

Am now selling the 400 for about £1500.Haven't put an ad up yet tho.

I think the 400 is perfect but it is wayyyyyyyy to small for me being rather tall.
And i think a sports 600(more than enough power) is fine but i really want a V-twin and was thinking about the Tl,not a lame SV.

i would get a ducati but it would have a to be a 916 and my insurance would batter me big time.
Tl 1000 is much cheaper insurance wise.

Won't handle as well as your 400. Strong engine, dodgy handling unless sorted. How about a early Aprilia RSV. They should fit you size wise.

I'm sure Skids can advise better but, I've ridden a well sorted TL and was very impressed. Very smooth power and not as 'involving' a ride as my 900ss (but there again I've never ridden a modern 4V Duke either).

Low down power has not as good as I thought but mid-to high range power is storming

Make sure you get to ride BEFORE you buy!

a friend of mine bought an early TL, a new one when they came out.

cruising at 70 on the motorway it went into massive wobble for no apparent reason, say witnesses, and spat him off. Friend is no more

so from where I'm sitting, the comic didn't hype anything up.

I've ridden the TL1000S and owned a VTR. The TL was quicker, as in more horsepower, steered pretty quick but the front end was light and didn't give me much feedback, like they hadn't got the balance of the bike right (it was the first released model I rode). Some said fitting a damper would sort it out but I ended up buying a VTR - a very under-rated bike! The VTR felt planted by comparison.

The VTR has a crap fuel range (worse than my 996) and less horsepower than the TL but if you're buying Japanese (oh dear - get the 916!!) then you may as well plump for the Honda - very reliable. And they sound pretty good with a nice set of cans.

But, get the bloody Ducati and be done with it! you know you want to!
