600ss riding experience?

Hi. Have recently got my 94 600ss on the road for the first time and have enjoyed some 1200 miles on it over the last few weeks. However it is the first big bike that I have owned, and the first twin I have ridden.

I had expected lot of vibrations, or "thumps", as the bike accelerated through the lower revs, and this all seems to clear away by 4ish k rpm, however as it approaches 7k rpm I notice another series of vibrations, which is around twice the first series. Is this normal for a twin, or is my engine unbalanced in some way?

So far I havent really tried to push past these vibrations, so of course I havent seen the full power of the engine. Any comments or advice?

Douglas
