Tell me about frames please..

I'm looking at another monster tomorrow but it's got a bent rear subframe.
What should I look out for - Is it a no go ? Can it be repaired ? If so is it expensive ?

Pearls of wisdom appreciated

My questions would be:-

How did it get damaged?

What else got damaged?

Who repaired said damage?

Is the damage insurance company recorded (HPI checks are bollo**s)?

Why is is being sold?

It got damaged in an accident - lowsided-spun round-hit kerb - bent rear sub.
Not recorded on insurance.
Sold cos it's made the guy nervous. A few things got damaged but nothing that worries me other than the subframe which will need repair.

P.s The price is excellent

Like Mikey says it depends how its been done and more importantly if it has effected the rest of the frame. B

Basically, I think the answer to your question is yes mate, they can be repaired...a good guy to speak to on this is Rich llewellin.

3 monsters - thats a bit greedy anyway L...??

Nat

its quite possible that the shock received at the rear could transfer down the frame.
and you would not be able to tell unless its striped down to investigate.
unless it really cheep I wouldn't bother.
but having said that you need to have a good look at the other factors as mentioned above.

Go for it Lin
You can always use the frame for DD and as its only the main frame that can't be modified a bit of re-jigging (cutting & welding) of the subframe should be OK. Could even try lowering the seat rails to suit you better
