Talking of 888 appreciation...

I took my bog-standard factory-fresh Strada for a rare run out today, and called at my local Ducati dealers (M&S @ Durham). Asked the sales guy about the possibility of me putting my bike on sale in his (very large) showroom. "No chance", says he, "there's no room!"
When I pointed out that the bike was a bit 'hard to find' these days, and that it might even attract customers to his premises, he pulled out his price guide. "Book price between £1850 and £3250. What do you want for it?"
Needless to say, I left pretty quickly. Shortly after having told him to tear up the book.

(NB. I'd refused an offer of £5000 for this bike during the summer! Finger on the pulse or wot?)

When I bought my S4R in the summer..the guy asked if I had another bike to p/ex.. " Only my beloved 888 and im keeping that"

"Thats OK..we wouldnt even give you a grand for that coz those old ducatis are more trouble than there worth"

If he hadnt have knocked a grand of my monster I would have chinned the t***r.

Makes you wonder how these guys are even in the business of selling bikes. The same guy had already told me that they (the main Ducati dealers in the area) hadn't had an 888 in the showroom for three years!
"Yes", says I, "COS THEY'RE A BIT RARE!"
It made no difference though. He didn't think it worth moving one of the eight identical/cloned CBR600s to one side in order to make space for the 888.

Ah well.. "He who laughs last laughs longest!"

Your dead right weeveetwin "M&S - Durham & newcastle" dont know there arse from there elbow when it comes to the real thing! Happy to take your money when a duke is in stock they want to sell but don't want to know when its the other way round, more fools them i say!! have spent thousands there over the years on bikes and bits, if not buying a new every year you just get ignored when you go in, not anymore.
Keep the 888 mate and keep the faith........

It's not the faith I'm losing Cleggy - it's the space! I'm after another bike, but haven't enough room for it. I haven't room for ANY bikes really since I moved address. (the 888's currently stored in my sister's garage).
