On long rides (couple of hundred miles plus) i find that i get bit of leg cramp/ stiff knees. Seat/handlebars/screen combination is fine. It's the seat to footrest distance thats the prob.

This probably due to the fact i have legs the length of Elle Macpherson's (unfortunately not as nice even when i shave them and wear high heels).

5 of us depart for Spain next week but during our planning session in the pub one suggestion was does anyone make the opposite of jack up plates (i.e lowering kits) for the footrests just to give a little more legroom.

Yes i know there could be ground clearance problems, but its only a thought even though there would be no chance of getting any before i leave. Are such things were available?

Adjustable rearsets?

Other than that, why not get ones of those strap-on (oo-er!) pillion Gel seats for about 30 quid, as this will not only stop you getting a numb bum but it may also raise the seat slightly to give you more room?

I think you can get them from the usual accessories places - MPS, M&P, Busters, etc.

Would the rearsets give me more legroom?

I've got a Technosel seat which is surprisingly comfy so don't really fancy the strap on, although i take the point about raising my fat arse up as another solution and i do know someone who may lend me one.

Rearsets will do exactly what they say, set your feet further to the rear. They're sometimes adjustable for a bit of vertical play, but by moving your feet further back you'll be opening up the angle of your joints so easing your problem? May put a bit more weight on your wrists tho

Most of the rearsets are copies of the DP ones, and these have two vertical positions that they can be bolts onto the frame. The footpegs are then on an eccentric cam, so with everything set at the lowest positions you should get quite a bit more room.

I don't know how much more over standard, but I may well measure next time I take mine off. But don't hold your breath!

Just a thought, are you getting enough to drink (water) or maybe something is causing you to get cramp? lack of salt?? leathers too tight??

The Multipla will be doing Lands End to John o Scroats, and a trip to the Sahara this year so i'd rather take the 996

We always go for an enthusiastic thrash each year and the group consists of 2 R1's, and some other Oriental whiz bang thingies (actually a Thunderace and a VFR) and the 996 is quicker and prettier. Better for posing in France

Much though i love the Multisomething, i still prefer riding the 996 even though it ain't as comfy.
