Is this legal???????

Signed up on Ebay over the weekend to buy some bits for the 749 and came across this item being offered for sale.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tego ry=10065

Now am i being paranoid or does this skeleton key allow you to start and ride off every Duke bar the ones listed which it does not fit??????

Ok if we have an immobiliser fitted that might save us, but then it would still be possible to take the bikes standard steering lock off and roll the thing into the back of a van.....regardless if your alarm is blaring or not......

I know most sensible Duke owners fit anchors and chains etc.....you would think that it would be illegal to sell master keys for bikes......???

I know if you lose your keys for your Ford or BMer you must take ID and proof of ownership into the local garage to get a spare set. Surely bikes should be the same?

Anyone got any words of wisdom on this one? Seems like the guy makes a living out of selling master keys for just about everything....

Worth mentioning to ebay or will they not bother responding????

Regards

ScottyB

Paranoid, it's a key blank, same as my spare keys were. You need to then get it cut to pattern or to key number. That key would go in the lock, but not turn woth out cutting.

Thanks Flanker,

I had visions of some little Junkie Ned running round with a pocket full of keys.

Have just looked again and seen they are Blanks and not masters......

Thanks....

Off to bury head in sand........

It is all you Ebay pro's faults, always posting stuff on how dodgey ebay is............I am always on the look out for the scam......

Haven't seen any Nigerians selling 999r's wanting cheques made out to Mickey mouse yet though which is good....

If you need keys cutting most high street places can do it. They wont have a genuine Ducati blank (with Ducati written on it) but the Kawasaki one is identical. Cost me about £6.00 i think.
