Ride Height Tool...at last!

Guys and gals...at last we have lift off, well nearly

Eventually, the company cutting the templates up for me have come good and delivered as promised.

It only took about 8 weeks!!!!!

Anyway...attached is a piccie giving you an idea of the tool itself.

Still to be added are the bobbins for locating it in the frame. These have been machined by a very talented friend of mine, and provide a pukka fit. They are to be attached to the template via stainless fittings (well, 2 cap head hex bolts) for all you bling bandits!

Unfortunately, he is actually on holiday at the moment for another 10 days or so...but when he returns it will be all guns blazing to get these out to those that showed an interest. We have all of the material and fastners in house that we need...so any further delays should be avoided.

For those of you that may have missed this first time around...I'll post a link up to the original thread if I can figure out how to do it...unless someone can do that for me!!!

I will be sending a U2U to all who have shown interest to date to see if they are still interested.

The deal will be £35 for fully paid up members of the DSC, or £50 for non-members...so it pays to join if you haven't already!

So...watch this space...these will be available very soon

Harv,

You making these for the 749/999 also, I think it's only a different frame bobbin that maybe needed...

Well...I thought about it...certainly viable...but just wasn't sure if there would be a need for them?

I guess there is, and once I have sorted these out I will be looking into it.

Do you know if they are used at the moment in any way on the 749/999 series, for example by race teams or suspension specialists? Have you ever seen such a thing for a 749/999 at JHP?

I haven't, and thats what put me off! If there is any real interest in doing so, then I would be more than willing to sort something out.

Harv they do indeed use them, JHP set mine up the other day using said tool, I think the only difference is that the swingarm mount is bigger (oval shaped) rather than a round fitment

Factory manual answers all

http://www.chathamclose.com/pics/ride%20height.pdf

Why - ensures you're geometry is correct and therefore the bike sits, and rides, as designed

How - a bit more convoluted...

Didn't drop the forks through the yokes etc no, although John tinkered with the settings, first time out yesterday and the back felt a millions times better than before, going to try and get some fast miles under my belt to get a better feel, John did recommend a new shim kit for the forks which I know one or two people have had done (someone on here had it done as I recall) so that could be the next step if I am still unhappy
