Ducati discontinued it
Yep I remember the plate and have a pic somewhere as I want to see if my mate can get some made in stainless, wish I'd chased it up before now.
Only the one dodgy link which is bad enough for a chain that has only been on the bike since the end of September

It went throught crank case they would not except responsability but gave me £250 for the length of time it took them to come to that conclusion
I had a DID chain go on me (many years ago mind). The chain was about 300 miles old and initially they tried to say I'd fitted it wrong. After explaining I worked in the motor trade they reneged and paid full expenses to recover the bike and repair the broken crankcases. They also supplied a new chain. They reckoned a stone had become lodged between the plates. What do I care. Full marks to DID
Bad luck, Kev. Same thing happened to me last year at Croft on the last lap with the finish line in sight. Coasted across the line, lost two places, and the chain ended up neatly folded up in the belly pan. No damage other than a couple of marks on the frame.
Well as of last weekend I have patched the hole in the alternator casing for now with some Epoxy putty which is holding up well and when the spring comes and the 998 is back out on the roads I will look at replacing the casing with the spare I got from Jim at Bike Enders and then get the original repaired. Also looking at getting my mate Adrian to try and make me some small protective gaurds in stainless similar to what Ducati use to offer.
The chain that snapped was from DIDs Gold series Race chains, rated for Endurance on bikes over 750cc, don't think it allowed for the torque of a 996. I have replaced it with another DID chain from their VM range (As I already had a new one on the shelf)and this one certainly has thicker side plates.
So at least the bike is back on the road complete with the asjustable offset yokes on which i'm running 4mm less offset than standard.
Kev, I am curious as to why you'd want to increase the trail by reducing the offset. Are you lacking stability? Decreasing the offset will make the bike harder to turn, won't it?
BTW, I used to use 28-30 mm offset with the 23.5 deg angle.
