BMW 328i immobiliser problem - can anyone help?

A friends BMW 328i has been immobilsed after the battery has gone flat.

Its a 1999 328i and has the factory fitted immobiliser.

Now with a new battery fitted, he cannot get the alarm to immobilise. He reckons there's a code that can be used to overide this - but doesn't know what it is - can anyone help?

is there a standard factory code that can be used?

Thanks in advance
Tim
