Goofy question for anyone who is interested: The KC2000 is known generally for wearing out the inner linings of jackets, due to the abrasive material used on the padded bits. So, I have taken to wearing it back to front - i.e. so that the smooth material normally resting against your back is facing outwards into the jacket lining. This reduces the effect of friction and should mean less wear on the inside of the jacket. A secondary effect of doing this is that air is able to flow through the gaps between the pads, so your back gets less sweaty. The question: am I mad or have I stumbled upon "a good idea"? I know which one my money's on :P

I might be being stupid here but, my Dainese BP is designed to bend only one way, ie with your back as normal and not against it. If you turn it around, doesn't that defeat the purpose, plus I'm guessing the hard plastic would make a mess of your skin as well. Dunno really, but I wouldn't do it.
Agree with WJB, my back protector is also only designed to flex in a certain manner. Can't imagine it's a good idea to have it the wrong way round. Specially if the "hard bits" on the BP are in line with your spine or the back of yuor ribs. Could be nasty in an impact.
Upon reflection, I have decided that the Knox is better worn the way the manufacturer intended. Although the padded bits are not particularly hard, the fact that they are there at all means a certain degree of concentration of potential impact in that particular area, instead of spreading it across the back as a whole. Not good. So, sweaty back and worn out jacket linings it is!
Heh, hope I stop getting these "great ideas" soon...
