Mood: Is 112 dB loud enough?? What??
twpd: You might find that it's not the bobbins that wear but the aluminium carrier instead. The half circles in the carrier ovalise. That's what I found on my Brembo race discs. I've never found anyone selling just the carriers.

I'll take a look at that then Felix. Thanks for the tip. I've got the whole weekend to do it - I'll just pop a spare set of discs on instead.

I'll take them apart completely. I can measure the bobbins accurately but, I'm not sure how I will be able to check the carriers though.

If the bobbins are still round, i.e. not deformed, then I would think that only leaves the carriers. Any "wear" either in the bobbin or the carrier is deformation of the metal.

Ah the old shudder when brakes applied. The carrier wear is easy to check. Does the brake disk move back to frt at all? If so the carrier is warn. You need over sized bobbins machined up, or new carriers. Do not just fit new bobbins because they will be the same as the old. (They don't wear much.)

If the disk moves from side to side,

These guys have what you need. I have just done a set last month. Don't for get to glue the E Clips. You need new ones, as the old ones distort on removal. Any bearing shop should have them.

I seriously doubt that will work to be honest. The half holes in the disc carrier actually ovalise. Installing oversized bobbins isn't going to solve the problem. It will simply bind up the disc. What you need is a new carrier. However, my guess is that Brembo engineered this pretty well. That is this wear is an indicator that it's time to replace the entire disc.

I am sure there are plenty of people who have successfully rebuilt discs, but if you get it wrong...oh dear. Not for me.

yep your right . Half the hole gets ovalised. Machine shop time. Get the holes done in the disc and carrier. Fit oversized bobins. There is a guy in Melb that does the (whole) job.

As for wear indicator yep. Or just crap at braking.
