Worst weather you\'ve ridden in???
Whats the worst weather you've ridden in?
Ok, i'll start this one off.
Tonight back from Scarclife. Pi**ing down with rain running on worn out Supercorsas, thunder ahead, pitch dark, soaked in one-piece leathers, bombing down the motorway with the oil light keep coming on (forgot to fill up after trackday & rideout with Dukerob)........
Andy
ps could be worse, could be Nelly with dark visor !!!!
Brands last year with R-L, Desmondo & Rattler, monsooned all day with 40mph winds along the start finish straight ...... we didnt miss a session ....
Mallory for Track Attack One .... stupid weather that day ...
And the worst was France in 02 when we had 3 days of constant rain, thunderstorms and never hasd enough time to get our kit dry ..... it was mid-July .....
ILOC trip to Laverda factory June 96 or 97, out riding when a hail storm hit, the hail was so hard it broke screens, mirrors and dented fuel tanks, we had no option but to stop, the roads were filled with golf ball size hail and it was like riding on marbles. I had bruises through my leathers from the force of the hail. Laverda fixed the newer bikes with bust parts FOC. I've ridden through a lot of rain/wind and never stopped but that day was crazy .
Tonight was close but the visor screwed things up a little.
Got caught out once in a storm on the A38 on route to Matlock. Storm came out of nowhere. We parked under a bridge eventually and the rain was coming down so hard we got just as we under there.
Before that, I used to go to work on a MT5, then a RD125. 40 miles round trip a day. rode in all weathers. snow used to be good fun, when we used to have real snow........up to the axles in the stuff
early eighties 84 i think-on an XT 500 there was ice on the inside of my leather jacket!and leather gloves cracked when i finally extracted my hands from them!!
A weekend in April this year on a Monster 1000S courtesy bike. Manchester to Lincoln via the M62. Blowing a gale over the moors, and freezing cold. Then it started to rain a bit. Then it started to hail. Then we had to stop on the A1 as the SNOW was so bad it was constantly sticking to our visors.
We were in full summer leathers as it was nice when we left the North West.
I had a 650 and a 668 and am still tempted by a 750 Formula in orange and silver but prices are keeping high. One of my best mates has a fine selection, Montjuic, 750S, RGS corsa and the Baines Endurance racing 750 bike for track days. And he's an S4 monster owner
